The Document: Voters in New Hampshire were advised not to cast their ballots for the Democratic presidential candidates on Tuesday by a phone message that had been altered to sound like Joe Biden's voice using artificial intelligence.
More than a few New Hampshire voters received the phone scam, which instructed them to "save their vote for the November election." The message contained Biden-esque phrases like "What a bunch of malarkey."
Kathy Sullivan, a former chair of the Democratic Party, reported the call to the police, saying it was a "outright election interference, and an attempt to harass me and other New Hampshire voters." The call originated from her personal cellphone number.
According to Sullivan's spokesperson, at least a dozen people received the call. Those who got the call are being asked to contact the election law unit via email. The exact number of recipients is unknown.
No one knows for sure who made these calls, but a spokesman for Biden's opponent, Dean Phillips, said his team had nothing to do with it, and the Trump campaign denied any involvement either.
